Lurnea Intensive English Centre provides outstanding English language education to newly arrived high school aged students including International fee paying students. Since its inception, 35 years ago, Lurnea IEC has educated thousands of newly arrived students. Its highly trained ESL accredited teaching staff provide specialist English education to students beginning their educational journey in Australia. Students enrolling at Lurnea IEC receive expert education in all of the Key Learning Areas including English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, HSIE, PDHPE and Performing Arts.
The IEC caters for a wide variety of student abilities, ranging from those students with little to no English through to the more advanced students, preparing for entry into senior high school. Students are placed in accordance to their language proficiency, progressing through each stage of language acquisition ultimately graduating from the IEC equipped with the skills required for further education in mainstream high schools, TAFE, university or employment.
Lurnea IEC has produced a number of students that have gone on to undertake tertiary studies in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, engineering and education.
Lurnea offers a safe supportive environment for newly arrived students. The centre, along with its educational programs, offers a variety of support services including specialised counselling, transition to high school guidance, work experience placements, HSC subject selection assistance and sport and recreational programs.
