The principal is responsible for the educational leadership and management of our school. If you would like to speak to the principal, please contact us to make an appointment.

Ms Lee - Head Teacher

Ms Lee has been an ESL educator in the NSW DEC for over 25 years. She possesses extensive knowledge in regards to the provision of successful English language programs for newly arrived students. Ms lee specialises in the provision of level one ESL programs. Ms Lee takes an active role in the education of students and enjoys her role as Head Teacher both inside and outside of the classroom. Ms Lee leads a highly trained and motivated staff at Lurnea IEC and is constantly challenging herself and her staff to attain educational best practice.

Ms Yawanis
Ms Yawanis has over 24 years of ESL teaching experience in an IEC. Ms Yawanis has attained a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Education along with a Graduate Diploma in TESOL.  Ms Yawanis is chiefly responsible for teaching level one English in addition to Science and PDHPE. Ms Yawanis also actively coordinates the very popular Football United Program, Creating Chances, and the InterAct program  conducted at Lurnea IEC. She is also the co-ordinator for the International Sudents.

Ms Karla
Ms Karla specialises in the teaching of the IEC's lower Level 1 and Level 2 English. She draws on a wealth of knowledge and experience in her role as educator for these classes. Ms Karla has used her skills  and experience to provide each reception class student with a smooth transition into the Australian education system. In addition to her ESL accreditation Ms Karla is the current coordinator of the exiting program that involves students to transit smoothly to mainstream schools, TAFEs and other tertiary private English colleges. Ms Karla is also the IEC's camp co-ordinator that is held in December every year. 

Ms Venardos
Ms Venardos is one of the IEC's founding staff members. She has been an integral part of the IEC staff since the centre's inception. Ms Venardos' roles include teacher of English, HSIE and PDHPE. In addition to her classroom role Ms Venardos is responsible for the coordination of the IEC's special reading program. Her qualifications include Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History and ESL.

Ms Chandra
Ms Chandra is a highly qualified ESL teacher responsible for the IEC's Senior English Education Program. Ms Chandra has developed best practice ESL programs preparing students for their transition into HSC level studies. Her focus on visual literacy places Lurnea IEC at the forefront of ESL education. Ms Chandra offers the IEC students specialist  assistance unrivalled in other educational institutions.

Ms Clarkson
Ms Clarkson is the very popular Music and Drama teacher in the IEC. She is a qualified ESL teacher and tirelessly promotes the performing arts in the IEC. As a result of Ms Clarkson's hard work and her close relationship with the Performing Arts Department of the Casula Power House Museum, students enrolled at the IEC receive the opportunity to participate in a variety of performances. In addition to her role as teacher Ms Clarkson is the IEC's Refugee Week coordinator.

Ms Kicielinski

Ms. Kicielinski is one of our senior teachers of the IEC. Her contribution and experience is highly valued. Ms. Kicielinski is responsible for teaching level 1 English and Foundation and she often challenges the students to address their learning beyond their capability. Currently she has taken the responsibility of attendance at our centre.   Ms. Kicielinski's contribution is highly valued.

Mr Marcus
Mr Marcus is a valued addition to the IEC's staff. Mr Marcus currently teaches Science and PDHPE. Mr Marcus coordinates the school's basketball team and is responsible for the introduction and ongoing coordination of the newly installed fitness gymnasium facility in our school. To add to this, Mr Marcus is responsible and coordinates the provision of the IEC's PDHPE program,  IEC's Special Swim School,  AFL gala Day, IEC Athletics, Cross- Country and the Inter-IEC Gala Sport's Competition. He has also taken our IEC's uniform policy under his wings.

Ms Ferris
Ms Ferris is a long term member of the IEC teaching staff. She is English trained and is currently responsible for the provision of the IEC's level two English Program. Ms Ferris brings a welfare based approach to her teaching focusing on the overall needs of each student.

Ms Kim
Ms Kim is a vibrant young mathematics trained teacher. She currently holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Japanese. Ms Kim has a Korean background and has been instrumental in the education of the IEC's Korean students. Ms Kim specialises in preparing the IEC students for senior level mathematics.

Ms Sashi

Ms Sashi is a young enthusiastic teacher. She has a Masters in Teaching degree from Western Sydney University and has worked at several primary schools in the area. Ms Sashi teaches English, HSIE, Science and Computer Studies. She has taken initiative in teaching dance to the students for end of term Presentation Day. Ms Sashi is also working to improvise on the ICT matters in the faculty. 

Miss Kumar

Miss Kumar is a passionate Science and ESL trained Teacher with experience teaching at various schools across NSW. She attained a Bachelor of Science and Master of Education in TESOL at the University of Sydney and a Master of Teaching at Western Sydney University. Miss Kumar taught in English in Primary and Junior High schools for two years in Matsue and Nagoya. At Lurnea IEC she teaches Level One, Two and Three Maths and Level Three Science. She enjoys building positive relationships with students from other countries, helping them integrate into mainstream schools in Australia.

Ms Swadling

Ms Swadling is the newest teacher to our IEC. She currently holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dance, a Bachelor of Education and Post Graduate Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Ms Swadling has taught many subjects including Dance, PDHPE, Drama in high schools in Sydney for the past nine years. She is a creative teacher who is passionate about all things PDHPE and dance. Ms Swadling is very much looking for to being a part of the Lurnea IEC community.
