Getting to and from school safely

As a parent or carer, it’s your responsibility to get your child to and from school safely. 

Pick up and Drop off near Lurnea Intensive English Centre. 

The safety of our students are our top priority. We request parents/guardians to adhere to the rules by remembering the following:

  • children are to be picked up and dropped off at the bus bay located inside the school premises. 
  • access the bus bay from Webster Road and exit to Hillview Parade. 
  • slow down to 40km/h in the school zone from 8am to 9:30am and 2:30pm to 4:00pm
  • the cul de sac on Webster Road, near the school gate is a 'no stopping' zone. It is illegal to stop your vehicle there. 
  • never do U-turn or three-point turn near the school. 
  • driving and parking safely, even if it means parking further away and walking the rest of the way to school
  • being a good role model
  • never calling your child from across the road
  • using the safest place to cross the road.

  • being aware of the the traffic entering and exiting school premises and driveways. 
  • being aware of your surroundings and not being distracted by mobile phones.
  • keeping to the left while walking on the footpath.
  • walking to and from school with a sibling or friend. 
  • being respectful to other pedestrians and road users. 
  • Always cross at a pedestrian crossing or at the traffic lights.
  • Stop! Look! Listen! Think! before crossing the road. 

For parents and carers of younger children

Discuss with your child how to be safe when:

Also talk about and practise:

  • safe travel routes
  • plans for when unexpected things happen
  • what to do in wet weather.

Subsidised school travel

Transport for NSW provides subsidies to assist school students.

  • The School Student Transport Scheme provides eligible students with free or subsidised travel on public transport between home and school.
  • The School Drive Subsidy may help towards the costs of driving children to school if you live in an area where there is no public transport.
